Gulf Oil Spill Panel Highly Critical Of Congressional Inaction.

Members of a presidential commission that investigated the catastrophic British Petroleum oil spill that happened two years ago have expressed great dissatisfaction with the failure of Congress to pass legislation in the two years since the spill to make oil drilling safer.

The commission gave Congress a letter grade of “D” while the conservation group Oceana issued their own report card, giving Congress an “F.” The commission gave the Obama administration a “B” grade and the oil industry a “C-plus.” A former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, William K. Reilly, said he was encouraged by the progress of the oil industry and the United States Interior Department.
