Michael Lawrence, an 18-year-old Cape Cod high school student, was pronounced dead at the scene when police officers responded to the scene of a car accident that occurred as the result of drag racing.
Michael Lawrence was the only occupant of the black BMW X5 SUV that was found rolled against a tree, which it hit after an accident that was caused by drag racing. Adrian Sterling, the driver of the car that Lawrence was racing stopped and remained at the scene of the accident after Lawrence’s car rolled over and hit a tree on Route 6 Eastbound, between exits 9 and 10. Sterling has been charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and racing a motor vehicle. While racing accidents are rare, emergency responders say that the particular stretch of Route 6 where the crash occurred is very dangerous and they have responded to many motor vehicle accidents there.
